What Is Obara Meji?

Obara Meji is the seventh of the 16 principal Odu and the Odu of royalty. It carries the energy of natural leadership, abundance, and the commanding presence of someone who was born to be seen. Obara people do not blend into rooms — they fill them. But Ifa reveals that Obara's central teaching is not about the power itself. It is about what happens when power meets humility — and what happens when it does not.

What Obara Meji Rules

Obara governs leadership, abundance, royal energy, the arts, performance, and creative self-expression. It rules the power of presence — the ase that flows from a person who is fully themselves without apology. Obara also governs generosity, because true royalty shares what it carries.

The Gift of Obara Meji

If Obara is active in your life, your gift is magnetism. You naturally attract — people, resources, opportunities, attention. You have a creative intelligence that expresses itself boldly, and when you are aligned with your Ori, your output has a quality that others recognise as special.

The Shadow of Obara Meji

The shadow of Obara is arrogance — the belief that your gift excuses your character. Ifa is very direct: Obara people who indulge arrogance do not just limit themselves, they actively reverse their abundance. Remediation

Physical: Perform an act of genuine service with no audience. No social media, no recognition. Just give. Yellow and gold are Obara colours — wear them to reconnect with your royal nature.

Spiritual: Prostrate before your ancestors. Actually bow to the ground. This is the physical posture of humility before what is greater than you.

Ancestral: Who in your lineage carried leadership that was either honoured or squandered? Learn from both sides — the glory and the fall.

Biblical/Quranic: Proverbs 16:18 — "Pride goes before destruction." Matthew 23:12 — "Those who humble themselves will be exalted." In Islam, Kibr — arrogance — is among the most serious spiritual dangers.

Obara Meji is associated with Shango — the Orisha of thunder, lightning, justice, and kingship. When Obara is active, Shango's energy is present — calling you to your greatness while demanding your integrity.
