Ose Meji — The Sweetness That Attracts

By Iyanda  ·  2026-05-14

What Is Ose Meji?

Ose Meji is the fifteenth of the 16 principal Odu and one of the most beloved. Its energy is sweetness — not the manufactured sweetness of performance, but the genuine magnetism of a person or situation deeply aligned with what it was meant to be. Ose is the Odu of answered prayer, of attraction, of the law of spiritual correspondence working visibly in your life.

In Ifa teaching, Ose is the Odu where prayer becomes manifest — where what is asked for in sincerity and alignment is answered by Olodumare through the channel of Ofun. Ose is the asking. Ofun is the receiving. Together they complete the prayer cycle.

What Ose Meji Rules

Ose governs attraction, magnetism, prayer, beauty, and the energy of drawing good things toward you through your own alignment. It rules Oshun — the river Orisha of love, sweetness, and abundance — and all the qualities associated with her: honey, gold, beauty, creativity, the love that is worth having.

The Gift of Ose Meji

If Ose is active in your life, your gift is magnetism. You attract — people, opportunities, love, resources — with a naturalness that sometimes surprises even you. Your presence is pleasant to be near. Ose people also have a powerful prayer life — what they ask for in sincerity, from a place of genuine alignment, tends to arrive.

The Shadow of Ose Meji

The shadow of Ose is manipulation — using the gift of sweetness to extract rather than to genuinely exchange. Ose people who learn to perform attraction rather than embody it eventually find that what they attract is also performance — people and situations that look like what they wanted but have no real substance.

Remediation

Physical: Use honey — in your tea, on your skin, in your prayers. Honey is Ose's most powerful physical symbol. Wear yellow and gold — the colours of Oshun and Ose. Let your appearance reflect the abundance you are calling in.

Spiritual: Make an offering to the river. Take honey, a yellow flower, and a genuine prayer to moving water. Speak what you are asking for. Leave the offering in the water. Trust that Oshun carries it forward.

Ancestral: Who in your lineage attracted good things through their character — their warmth, their generosity, their genuine sweetness? Ask them to amplify their gift through you.

Biblical/Quranic: Matthew 7:7 — "Ask and it will be given to you." In Islam, Du'a — personal prayer as the most intimate conversation between the human soul and Allah.

Orisha Connection

Ose Meji is inseparable from Oshun — the river Orisha of love, beauty, fertility, and sweetness. When Ose is active in your life, Oshun is very close. She responds to sincerity, to beauty, to honey, and to genuine love.
